Narrow face

Professor Sailer differentiates between two forms: a narrow face with a normal profile and a narrow long face. In these conditions orthognathic surgery is the “queen” of maxillofacial surgery, because it is the best, long lasting technique which gives the best aesthetic results.

Functional and aesthetic correction of a narrow face

Professor Sailer differentiates between two shapes: a narrow face with a normal profile and normal cephalometric proportions and a narrow long face. These two types of narrow faces require different surgical treatments. A narrow face with normal profile proportions can be widened using augmentation and expansion plastic surgery.

A narrow long face, on the other hand, must be shortened vertically, by raising the upper jaw and/or using chin height reduction surgery, for example. This is a routine technique of orthodontic (orthognathic) surgery. At the same time, the augmentation and expansion techniques mentioned above can also be used individually to further enhance the attractiveness of the face.
